I recently came across a site. I was told by someone, that there are those that charge to reblog, but during my last six months on here, I have not came across one -until today.
I was rather disappointed, not outraged but disappointed, I know some on this platform find ways to generate a revenue which is fine and a damn good idea. But being who I am, the way I am, please keep in mind that I and most other sites will never charge to reblog a post. We do it because we want to. Maybe it fits a theme we are doing for that day. Maybe it is one hell of a post that needed to be shared. Maybe it’s a new blog and needs a little help getting noticed in this vast sea of WordPress Blogs. But when I read $200 dollars for a year, $35 for one reblog. I think there are better ways to generate an income then possibly taking an advantage of someone. This is just how I feel about this. So, if you are one who does this I mean no disrespect -I just disagree with the tactics.
That;s the first time I’ve heard of this. I am quite shocked.

Agreed!! Personally, I’m honored when someone re-blogs one of my posts.

I think I know what site you’re referring to. I actually stopped following this person and posted a comment about the reblog fee that was promptly deleted, LOL.
In a perfect world, writers would be paid to write. Unfortunately, that’s not the case so sponsored posts and advertisements do happen. However, I think reblogging should happen when you truly feel the content warrants more views and/or it moves you. It should not be to turn a profit. But hey. To each their own, I suppose.

Exactly my point, ” I think reblogging should happen when you truly feel the content warrants more views and/or it moves you. It should not be to turn a profit.”
I don’t begrudge anyone generating income but re-blogging one post for the amount that could put food on the table for the ones that are struggling to get noticed or at least have their posts read and maybe get a thumbs up or down. It’s rubbish!

Well, it’s there loss cuz obviously none of us are going to pay to reblog! I say, “So long, farewell & good luck.”
I sure am glad those of us here are kind enough to take it as a complement to get reblogged & to realize that they are being exposed to new readers. As far as I know, I have not reblogged yet; I have re-posted come of your blogs on my site.
My motto is: “Why reinvent the wheel if we don’t have to?”
In fact, my FB page “A Page A Day” is almost all re-posting.

I totally agree. It irritates me when post ends with a plead for money. I understand wanting to generate income, but really?

When you re-blog you are promoting them. So they should pay you.

EXACTLY! 😉 That’s what I say below!

I understand that some people want to use this platform as a means to make money and turn this into a business but I just wouldn’t choose to operate like that.

Hello! Are you sure Wp charges for reblogs? Kinda crazy if Intry to think about that too hard!
Hey I have to thank for the retreats! I just saw them tonight! I don’t usually tweet! It was wonderful to see! Have a wonderful long weekend! 😄😄

It’s not WP that is charging to reblog, some individuals who have blogs of their own are.

OH wow! I totally missed that sorry about that Michael, I was up late reading! How odd is that? Makes you kind of not want to follow them if they charge! 😀

Prolly for people who have business blogs selling products or services. For them these might be useful. For me, I would never go there definitely.

I just saw one recently. I was all ready to re-post an article & the invoice came up – $35! I was like “GOODBYE!” The article wasn’t even all that. It was good, but not great!

One of the first people to follow me as a new blogger was one that charged, that blogger is the only person I have found that charged and I really could not get my head round it then.
I reblogg, if I love an article,

I appreciate reblog and feel like my post touch the reader who’s Reblogging. I feel they know their readers and decided that a particular post would be a good fit. I would never pay for a reblog… and wasn’t even aware that existed…

I feel as though reblogging is a way of promoting a blog that the reader really likes – I reblog only those posts that I feel ties in with what I have posted previously (and you know that yourself). I would love it if people reblogged my posts….

Hilarious. I’ve never heard of it either. But if there are stupid people prepared to pay then it serves them well for being stupid, vain and naïve. Anyway I’m relatively new to blogging and from what I’ve seen so far bloggers are intelligent, educated people. I can’t see any of them paying.

I too have met a blogger who would charge for reblogging, but I didn’t see any reblogs… I was truly stunned by his offer…

So are you saying that if you want to reblog something someone wants to charge $35.00?

I ran across a site earlier and they put it like a sales pitch on their site so that they could make money off a person… 35 for one reblog and 60 for 2 reblogs. 200 for a year.

And then people wonder why no one pays any attention to them. I understand having to pay to read the newspaper on-line though I don’t even pay for that! But an article? No way!

So, no if you want to reblog, that is free and will always be free. It’s just some that are trying to make money

I’m with you on the reblogs! Although I respect the need for one to make a living, I personally feel that when someone reblogs a post that it should be viewed as an act of generosity. Reblogs help support your blog and I feel it’s more appropriate to extend a thank you rather than an invoice.

Thirty five bucks for a reblog? What the hell, for that kind of coin it better be as big as Facebook!

You got that right, but then there are no guarantees that the mass will read it let alone get spotted by a big wig and solve one’s financial problems. Oh, $60 for two blogs.
